But according to the United Nations, around 40% of the world’s population does not have a toilet at all. No access to toilets also means no access to sanitary and health facilities, which is a big issue that a lot of people are facing. Additionally, almost 27.000 trees are being cut down every day for the production of toilet paper. Those are shocking figures!
So shocking that they inspired the founders Sander de Klerk, Melle Schellekens and Faisal Ahmed to develop The Good Roll. A unique Dutch win-win concept: The Good Roll produces a 100% tree-friendly toilet roll that is made from European recycled paper. At the same time, they use part of their proceeds to give as many people as possible access to safe and clean toilets.
Challenge
How do they do that, you ask?
They use 50% of their net profit to construct toilets in various countries in Africa. The foundation has one goal: the availability of sustainable sanitation. Their dream is to have all of Ghana equipped with toilets within 2 years.
They really give a shit!
Because of their positive impact on people and the environment, The Good Roll received ANBI status 8588 94 178. The certificate is awarded to non-profit organizations that direct at least 90% of their efforts towards the common good.
