Shipping Insurance

Standard included transport insurance

All our carriers have been carefully selected. Your shipments will only be transported by carriers that are CMR/AVC qualified. This means that as a shipper, you will always have a good coverage in the event of damage, theft or delays.

It is important to note that CMR/AVC provides the carrier with insurance, and not you as a shipper. In order for you to get reimbursed, you need to be able to provide proof that the carrier is liable.

More details about the conditions for the insurance

So the good news is that your cargo is insured. However, there are some conditions that need to be met before you can apply to the carriers’ insurance. The first and most important condition is that the goods need to be packed accordingly.

→ Learn how to safely package your pallets

Officially, a pallet even has to withstand a tilt test with a 26 degrees angle. Be aware that the cargo should still be stable when a truck is breaking or making sharp turns.

It is the carriers’ responsibility to transport the goods safely to their destination. So from the moment the goods are picked up, until they are delivered and a POD is signed they are responsible for damage or loss of the goods.

For example, if a pallet gets lost on a warehouse and not found within 30 days, you can file a damage claim. Sometimes it happens that goods are damaged while being loaded/unloaded on the truck, for example by the use of a forklift. Also in that case you can file a claim.

However, if the goods are damaged because they stuck out from the pallet or fell in the truck due to instable packaging, you cannot file a claim.

How to file a claim

Always make sure to check the goods before you sign for delivery. In case of damage, take pictures and mention the damage on the POD . The pictures need to demonstrate the damage and the packaging. Please keep the damaged goods available for inspection, as sometimes insurance companies require this.

It is important that you report the damage as soon as possible, as there is an official deadline of 7 days. You can first mention it by writing an email to service@quicargo.com

After that, you will be asked to send a copy of the signed POD and the pictures. When the carrier accepts the claim, we will help you starting up the process. Please keep in mind it can take a while from the start of the claim to the settlement, the full process can take up to two months.
