The simplified procedure will not be applicable from January 2022 onwards.

January, 2022

Dear shippers,

Starting from January 2022 there will be a change of customs clearance rules that apply for shipments into the United Kingdom. Previously there were two options for importing standard goods into the UK:

  • Full import: Customs clearance takes place when the goods arrive at in the UK. Delivery is not possible, as long as the goods are not cleared by the authorities.
  • Simplified procedure: Goods are allowed to be delivered immediately and customs clearance is possible within 6 months after entering the UK.

The simplified procedure will not be applicable from January 2022 onwards. This means that it is not possible to deliver goods at a delivery location in the UK until the goods are cleared by customs.
In 2022 you will have two options. The goods can either be cleared in the harbour in the UK (Temporary Storage) or beforehand in the Netherlands (Prelodgement).

How do our partner carriers proceed?

Our partner carriers work with the Temporary Storage procedure. If you prefer the Prelodgement procedure, we need to inform our service team at service@quicargo.com. That way we can let the carrier know too, to ensure smooth transportation.

Be aware: Due to the new procedure, the UK expects delays at their harbours. Our partner carriers will try their best to deliver shipments as quickly as possible. We hope for your understanding.
